Nikka Zaildar 2 (22nd September, 2017)

This Ammy Virk and Sonam Bajwa starrer is one of the highest grosser of 2017. Nikka Zaildar released in 2016 and was a huge hit. The makers announced its sequel immediately thereafter and the same team was back with Nikka Zaildar 2 this September. Although the setting and story was completely new, but the actors, director, writer, producers and the box office result was absolutely the same as its first part. The movie had an intriguing storyline with plenty of romance and comedy. Nikka Zaildar 2 definitely rates amongst the best movies to release in the last three months.

Rupinder Gandhi 2 – The Robinhood (8th September, 2017)

Rupinder Gandhi 2 was yet another sequel that presented quality cinema and performed well at the box office. The movie released 2 years after its prequel Rupinder Gandhi – The Gangster?. Dev Kharoud’s gangster flick was appreciated by the audience for its crisp screenplay and the protagonist’s enactment of Rupinder Gandhi. Not only did the movie generate rave reviews from critics, but also sent the producers smiling towards banks.

Rocky Mental (19th August, 2017)

Parmish Verma’s star power worked wonders for Rocky Mental. The young video director made his big screen debut as a lead hero with this movie. The movie started off to a flyer with Verma’s die hard fans thronging the theatres in large numbers. The movie received mixed reviews from critics but the reason we have included it in this list is the strong portrayal of friendship between the main protagonists. Even the antagonists were fierce and generated instant hatred. This college drama was indeed one of the better films to release this year.

Jora 10 Numbaria (1st September, 2017)

Deep Sidhu’s portrayal of ‘Jora’ was appreciated by one and all. Director Amardeep Singh Gill’s Jora 10 Numbaria was desi and raw at heart. The action included fist fights and gunshots and the emotions of the movie were absolutely relatable. Although the movie just managed to recover its cost, but we have still included it in our list of top 5 of this quarter because of its realistic story and passionate portrayal by all the characters.

Bhalwan Singh (27th October, 2017)

Ranjit Bawa was in complete form in his first release (India) as a solo hero in Bhalwan Singh. He performed the title role perfectly. The movie did not start off the way it was expected to be but it has been included by us in this list because of a different story, perfect setting and the witty one liners.

Other notable films that released in this quarter were:

 Dangar Doctor Jelly which was lauded for a different theme that included animals;

Bailaras which was a love story between an innocent Binnu Dhillon & a filmstar Prachi Tehlan;

Kirdar-e-Sardar which had strong religious emotions attached to it.
